No Practice Monday 10/21

Due to a conflict with the high school water polo schedule.

And, my deepest apologies for this. I have control over most of the high school water polo schedule, but this date is our league tournament which I have no control over. There are two such conflicts this school year and the second is in January.

Late Season Tri

For anyone interested in one last race in 2024, there's a great option. It's the Sunday before Thanksgiving (November 24th) in San Dimas.

We have a discount code that will get you 50% off until November 9th. The sprint distance is $100, so with the discount it's $50. I recommend registering as soon as possible so that it doesn't sell out.

code: YOUTH50

You'll need your USAT License. If you haven't gotten one yet, please see this page.

On a personal note, it would be really cool to see any of you racing there. Other than this one, I don't think I've done any race more than 3 or 4 times. But this one I've done at least 30 times. I know it so well and to see you on course would be awesome. I also really like the people who put it on.

Photos from Newport Dunes

I've been a bit busy and haven't been able to split them all up by person. So, here is one folder with all of them. Sorry for any trouble.

There are also a lot of repeated photos and stock photos in there. Again, just no real time to clean everything up so you get it all.

Looking Ahead

For most triathletes, December-January is the off-season. Some do various forms of off-season practice, and some simply take time off. I do intend for the club to take a little time off too and will let you know what that looks like soon.

We'll get going again in the heart of winter. It may be cold and wet, but sometimes triathlon is too. As an athlete, I always used to avoid training in the rain, but it has rained during 4 of the 7 Ironman races I've entered. Clearly it was not wise to skip training in the rain. Now I enjoy it.

When we do get going again I hope you'll be ready for some Spring racing. There aren't many races during summer, but there are several in the Spring.

Specifically, I'd really like for the club to go to the High School State Championship race most likely in Napa on April 5th. That's kind of the only state level race that fits our club. More info to come later.
