Sunday Tri

1131 Back Bay Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660

This Sunday 10/13 we will do a practice triathlon at the Newport Back Bay. The image is there to give you more specifics on where we will be.

I will be there by 7:30 am (probably earlier) and I suggest you get there early as well. Consider this to be like a real triathlon where you arrive early and set up your transition area. I'd like to start as close to 8:00 am as we can.

If you have a yellow swim cap from last time, please bring it. Otherwise I will provide you with one.

Race Numbers

We will have race numbers for this Saturday practice tri. This will be like in a real race where you have to wear a number during the run. You have two options for how to secure it -

  1. You can use safety pins to secure the number to your clothes. It's only needed for the run, but is not worth the time putting it on during the race. It is waterproof and can be worn during the swim, so it's suggested that you wear it for the whole triathlon.

  2. Use a race belt. Race belts allow you to secure the number to the belt and then only put the belt on before the run.

I bought a bunch of cheap race belts and will have them for you to use if you want to. I will want them back but will have them for you when you race if you want it. You can also get your own.

Moving to a New Space

Some of you heard that we are being kicked out of the electrical room where we have been keeping all the bikes and equipment. We'll be moving to a shed that will be under the football bleachers, off of the pool deck. This will change a lot about how we do things, but it will also bring more opportunities since we'll have more space.

I bought a shed and it's in a few boxes waiting to be assembled. Online reviews say it's an 8-10 hour build and for that reason I'm asking for help from anyone who wants to give it. I think that if we have several people working that we could do it in just a few hours.

I will be here at 8:00 am on Saturday, October 12th to work on the shed. Anybody who wants to join, please feel free to do so. And, I'd suggest you bring a screwdriver as there are over 300 screws to install. I'll have a couple as well including powered ones.

I plan to be leaving at noon whether the shed is complete or not.
